Residential street lights in a residential district in Greece

The Greek Residential street lights Project was completed in 2017. The residential street lamp is a lighting fixture installed on the public street of the community. These lights are typically designed to provide illumination at night and in low-light conditions to ensure the safety of drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. The customer purchased ZGSM K series LED street lamps, which not only illuminate the road of the community but also ensure the property and personal safety of the community.

Very easy to install and a lot brighter than the existing old one. We are now buying more to replace the others.

The Problem

  • Before replacing residential street lights, traditional lamps could no longer meet the lighting requirements, which led to frequent traffic accidents and theft, making people’s travel very inconvenient and posing hidden dangers.
  • Traditional street lamps waste serious resources, urgent need to upgrade LED street lighting.
  • The customer wanted the new lamps to be energy-saving, easy to maintain, and pollution-free(auto dimming) in the middle of the night.

The Solutions

Based on the customer’s requirements, ZGSM recommended the K series LED residential street light cobra head because the appearance design is ideal and suitable for installation in residential areas. The customer provided different road widths, light pole spacing and light pole heights, based on which we recommended different wattages to meet the P-cat lighting requirements. Tool-less opening design facilitates later maintenance and upgrades. In addition, these lamps can reduce the wattage of the lamp according to the dimming profile in the latter half of the night to reduce unnecessary lighting and reduce light pollution.

The Result

Residential street lights help improve safety by improving visibility for drivers and pedestrians, reducing the risk of accidents, and making it easier to identify suspicious activity. Tool-less opening of the fixture cavity also makes fixture maintenance very convenient, as they are fed up with not being able to deal with minor fixture issues themselves. In this solution, they can buy LED drivers and LED modules in stock for maintenance in case of any failure. In addition, customers are very satisfied with the astrodim function of the lamps, which they consider to be a very beneficial feature that not only saves energy but also reduces light pollution.

Frequently Asked Questions

We know you might have more questions, so here’s a list of the questions we get asked the most about LED Residential street lights.

Two light poles should be spaced apart by around 2.5 to 3 times the height of the poles. Installing shorter light poles at regular intervals is recommended. The optimal height and spacing along a corridor will also depend on the density, rate of travel, and type of light source.

The lighting fixture’s intended illumination area’s width and lighting pole height are about equal. In other words, a luminaire put on a pole 12 meters high can light up a road or area 12 meters wide (with lanes of 3-3.5 meters).

Street pole heights typically range from 9 to 14 feet. The ideal street light pole should cast enough light without being overly glaring.

The usual lumen (lm) output ranges from 500 to 5000. Therefore, 5 to 50 W of electrical power is required. The light does not have to be on all night thanks to a motion sensor or timer. Accordingly, the daily energy requirement will range from a few tens of Watt-hour to a maximum of one kilowatt-hour.
