With the advent of LED lighting, residential and commercial premises have undergone a huge transformation. The LED revolution will now permeate stadium lighting. The stadium lighting market is expected to grow by nearly $200 million to $622.2 million by 2023, according to a Research and Markets study.
The rational driver of the adoption rate increase is the cost per lumen. Lumens measure light, while traditional watt measurements use only power. The improved cost per lumen is driven by more efficient leds and cheaper lamps.
The LED in large outdoor lamps went from 80 lumens per watt in 2013 to 130 lumens per watt in 2018. The watt cost of high-output lighting is coming down, to $1.36 per watt on the street in 2018. It's not surprising that LED lights have taken over the world of stadium and stage lighting, thanks to such important factors as efficiency, cost reduction and versatility.
In addition, stadium and sports LED lighting solutions are being used far beyond sports. Cowboy arena, rope arena, high school, college stadium, racetrack, concert venue and other places are all using sports lighting. LED lighting has grown dramatically over the years as the cost of LED lighting has fallen and the efficiency has improved.
